I wanna buy a Gnome

  • chent wrote on 22 Sep '04, 13:48 report
    Hey all,

I want to buy a gnome that can be done up to resemble Richie Benaud. I don;t want a large Garden size one but one say 4-6 inches high (not in length ).

Strange request but does anyone know of someone who makes gnomes (esp on the NW Coast).

    Cheers,
    C.

There's a couple in Deloraine who have a whole garden full of them, I'm sure could find one that suits you amoung that lot. Just be careful, the lady yells at you when you try to steal them

Meanwhile, can I sell you a slightly used John Howard? There's a certain similarity there ...

His nose is a bit brown though, and he keeps breaking out in the Star Spangled Banner. Nearly toilet trained. Going cheap. Please take him away?

    damn you Kevin...

I actually thought you had a slightly used John Howard garden gnome when I read the first sentence.

I was actually thinking... yup... that could work...

    Then it all went sour!!!

I haven't heard anything at the moment, a friend of mine has rellies living near Latrobe and I am sure they were in to making garden ornaments and the like. I emailed her at work but she knocks off at 5pm so I won't hear anything til tomorrow now. Mind you I spose I could get off my arse and actually ring her ...

just steal one from somebodys yard, what else are they there for.

I was thinking of stealing one and doing one of those photographic holiday things.

Once I get this gnome it will be a celeb in its own right. He'll be called Little Richie and will be photographed at every gig we play.

    It's my idea... don't steal it. I think I'm onto a gnome...

Don't stress about calling them Kev. If they get back you then great, if not I do have an option.

I think some one down the Tasman Peninsula does custom gnomes. Had I still a garden I'd get a few done up with placards, unionist gnomes on strike!

Is this still an issue Chent?

I spoke to said friend and the Sonic Animation gig down here and she said that her rellies still do it, but she got shit-faced that night and I doubt she followed it up.

I can get that happening today if you want?

And, yes, they are living near Latrobe. So close(ish) to you.

i used to have a garden gnome my sister scored in Melbourne called "Ivan the Socialist Gnome" - he had a hammer and sickle slung crosswise over his back and was reading the Communist Manifesto.

Yeah it is. Still haven't found anything appropriate.

I am looking for something like this....

it can be shorter and fatter like a normal gnome if it suits them better
